We are excited to announce that our new book, "A Pirate's Life For Me!" will be published next September by Kensington Books.
"A Pirate's Life for Me!" will teach you how to take the attitude of a swashbuckling freebooter and extend it to every area of your life – dating, parenting, business, exercise, diet, even politics!" Cap'n Slappy and I are going places no one ever dared – or else no one in their right mind ever considered – and all with a piratey panache that will make you smile and even – dare we hope? – laugh out loud. We certainly laughed a lot while writing it.
Our new publisher, Kensington, is the last remaining independent U.S. publisher of hardcover, trade and mass market paperback books. We couldn't be happier to sign with them.
The book will come out on Sept, 19 – which of course is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. In the months ahead you'll hear plenty more from us about plans for launching "A Pirate's Life For Me!" on an unsuspecting world.
And now you know why lately we've been sporadic in our other ventures, the blog, our e-mails, and appearances – we've been working our fingers to the bone on the keyboard, finishing up the new book and getting it ready for you! Look for "A Pirate's Life For Me!" next fall online or at a bookstore near you!
It's time for those "other" the holidays – you know, the ones that AREN'T Talk Like a Pirate Day. Some people enjoy 'em, and pirates never pass up a chance to kick up our heels. Here are a few things you might want to put on your gift list, or get for friends (if you have any.)
A Li'l Pirate's ABSeas." – If yer lookin' for a gift for the young 'uns, you can't do better than our book, "A Li'l Pirate's ABSeas," the picture book that does to the alphabet what a well-placed broadside does to a Spanish galleon – softens it up so pirates can have their way with it. Go to our Web site, http://talklikeapirate.com/booty.html, and follow the link to order it. You'll get it in plenty of time for Santa to stuff it in stockings of good little boys and girls – who you want to make bad. Sorry, it's only available online.
It's not just a rhyming alphabet book – it's a rhyming PIRATE alphabet book! That can be used as a coloring book! That'll teach kids important things like not hitting their mother with a belaying pin and what saltpeter is used for besides gunpowder! And other stuff!
If you've been invited to a holiday party – Christmas, New Years, Chanukah, Kwanzaa or whatever – you want to be dressed in style. And what could be more stylish than our Christmas Pirate T-shirt available at our Cafe Press store? Again, follow the link to our booty page and click over to our Cafe Press store. There you'll find our Christmas design, along with all the other shirts and goodies that you'll want to get for your friends.
Books for the holidays – Along with the above-mentioned "children's book" (and yes, there's a reason we put that in quotation marks,) we'll soon have two more of our "Caper" books online for those of you who just can't get enough of the adventures of the crew of The Festering Boil. Volumes 3 and 4 will be online by Thanksgiving, just in time for the holidays!
The entire four-volumes of the Festering Boil caper series – you knew we'd say this – would make a great Christmas gift for anyone on your list who loves pirates, adventure, and laughter.
Our friend Eric at Blushift Films is all but ready to announce his deal to distribute "Pirates of the Great Salt Lake." For those who haven't seen it, this is a wonderful, hilarious movie. Independentcritics/com said it is "one of the top ten best pirate movies ever," and that's saying a lot! And Hollywood Report Card said, "Not only a better quality script, but also a better quality production than a great many large budget studio films"
And the effort to land a distribution deal is finally ready to pay off. Watch the Poopdeck, or go to the movie's Web site (go to our links page and scroll down to "Pirates of the Great Salt Lake") for the news as it breaks.
Speaking of pirate films – If you haven't seen them yet, check out "The Bus Pirates." They've got four hilarious episodes online with more to come. The story – Dan, a painfully boring, uber nerd normal guy, is running late for work when he boards an L.A. city bus. The next thing he knows, it's been hijacked by pirates seeking a lost treasure. The reluctant hero is off an a quest to consult the oracle, find the treasure and rescue his "robot."
"'Bus Pirates' is aggressively funny," Cap'n Slappy says.
"Minute for minute the best pirate story around," Ol' Chumbucket.
