254 Days Until International Talk Like a Pirate Day!
Just a quick note to say happy new year to all the pirate brethren! 2008 will be a grand year, with plenty of opportunities to kick up our heels in new, exotic ways, culminating this fall when the holiday – September 19, International Talk Like a Pirate Day – falls on a Friday and we all party like pirates! Keep a weather eye out for piratey news all year long! New Caper Starting On BlogA new adventure of The Festering Boil will begin online Wednesday, January 9, on our blog. The legendary (in our own minds) crew of the Boil will be on the trail for pillage, plunder and other piratey fun in "The Curacao Caper," which will find old friends in new places, new friends in old places and plenty of opportunity for comical mayhem as they careen across the Caribbean. To find the story, visit our blog, "The Ship's Log o' the Festerin' Boil." It'll be a rollicking tale featuring Cap'n Slappy, Ol' Chumbucket, Cementhands McCormack, Sawbones Burgess and the rest of the crew. Or sign up for an RSS feed so you can get the updated installments delivered straight to your e-mail inbox. All four of the previous adventures – "The Diego Garcia Caper," "The Maracaibo Caper," "The Sao Paolo Caper" and the recently concluded, "The Havana Caper," are all available in book form online. Just visit our print-on-demand store at Lulu.com where the books are available. Here's what a couple of readers have said about our earlier adventure stories. "I am going back through your caper books. I gotta tell ya, they are great!! " Robert "Cockroach" Blair " Just wanted to say a big well done to you two on the "Diego Garcia Caper" book ... I was delighted, reading the book in about four days. I've never read a book that fast and couldn't put it down. The story was brilliant, absolutely hilarious, and also daft at times!" Captain Greenbeard, a pirate of the British shore J ust for the record, we've learned that "I couldn't put it down" is the single greatest thing you can ever tell an author about his book. We never get tired of hearing that. That's all for now, but we'll be back soon. Until then, keep spreadin' the word – and the word is "Aarrr!" -- Ol' Chumbucket _______________________________________________ Having trouble getting The Poopdeck by e-mail?
