New Yorkers wanted!
Jeanne Moos of CNN (yes, that CNN) is looking for any pirate-themed establishments or activities in the New York City area.
Jeanne is doing a report for the Cable News Network on International Talk Like a Pirate Day. The coverage will include an interview with the Pirate Guys - Cap'n Slappy and me, Ol' Chumbucket - which will be taped Tuesday, Sept. 16.
We're not in New York. We're in the wilds of Oregon. (OK, not that wild, really. It's more bucolic. That might be why we came up with this idea in the first place.) So we don't have a very good fix on what's happening in the Big Apple. But it's easier for the network to shoot something that's happening in its own backyard than across country. We're hoping one or more of our readers will be well versed in the piratical night life of the city and will lend a hand.
So, if you know anything or anyone that would be a good piratical backdrop for happenings in New York, let us know. Send an e-mail to email@example.com, and use the subject line: NY Pirates.
Thanks. And remember, International Talk Like a Pirate Day is coming soon!! Next Friday, Sept. 19.
(Also, don't forget to get your pikus (pirate haikus) in to The Oregonian's The Edge, where the contest deadline is noon (Pacific Time) Monday, Sept. 15. If you don't live in the area, send them by e-mail to theedge@ news.oregonian.com, or fax to 503-294-7691.)
